Children’s Mental Health Week is almost over for another year. This year’s theme was ‘Let’s Connect‘ and as always is run by leading children’s mental health charity, Place2Be, with over 25 years’ experience working with pupils, families and staff to promote positive mental health and well-being in UK schools.

Let’s Connect is about making meaningful connections for all, during Children’s Mental Health Week – and beyond. When we have healthy connections – to family, friends and others – this can support our mental health and our sense of well-being. At Bootham we are extremely proud of our pastoral care and maintaining the health and well-being of our students -and staff- is a priority. Through our highly acclaimed Parenting Programme we work with parents and guardians to ensure we’re encouraging people to connect with others in healthy, rewarding and meaningful ways.

Following on from our popular post earlier in the week regarding internet safety online and how to start that conversation with our children and young people, we felt it might be helpful to share some resources and tips regarding maintaining good mental health and well-being.

TOP TIPS

As staff, parents and guardians, we are all important role models to the children in our care.

Young people have been fantastic at opening up conversations about mental health. Moving society forward, reduced the stigma surrounding mental health and made it a public issue. Let’s keep that conversation going…
