After two years of Covid safeguarding we finally have a precaution free Summer in sight and we bet you, and your little ones, can’t wait. The impact that Covid-19 has had on the whole world has of course been massive. From only being allowed outdoors for exercise one hour a day to not being able to mix with peers, it has indisputably changed the way we live our lives. However, these changes have undoubtedly had the greatest impact on our children. Lockdowns and the restricting of contact with others during their crucial developmental years has been shown to result in anxiety rates increasing within children. At United Education we take this into account with every school holiday camp we run.

The importance of outdoor play is something that we see as vital in the development of your children. Getting back to basics with nature-based exploring and game-based exercise is what our Adventure Camps are all about. United Education encourages children to boost their confidence through meeting new groups of people and building new friendships outside of the more regimented backdrop of school. Our kids’ camps are child led as we prefer to engage your children in the activities which interest them most, so they leave camp every day having the best experience possible.

United Adventure school holiday camps run from ages 5-14 (ages 3-4 are catered for at our neighbouring site, The Mount), however we split these age groups into three camps. First, we have Junior Explorers: Children aged 5-7, Wild Explorers: Children aged 8-11, and finally Senior Explorers: Children aged 12-14. We believe that every child should be allowed the opportunity to experience a holiday camp. Due to this belief, we go that extra mile and provide each explorer group with equipment appropriate for them, such as shorter tennis rackets and smaller archery equipment for the younger Explorers, as well as individualising each camper’s experience by designing age-appropriate activities for all groups.

Your child’s day at camp will be led by our highly trained Activity Leaders who are professionals within their field. Whether they’re a keen theatre actor, a bushcraft wiz or a professional footballer we hand pick our Activity Leaders as we believe that they can be the best role models for your children. Each Leader is also trained by us to be able to identify the different personality types of children so that they can best suit their individual needs. They understand that each child is different and an individual and may need some time for peace and quiet in between all the fun and excitement.

At United Education we put children at the forefront of everything we do. Through outdoor play and exercise we want to encourage confidence, nurture lifelong friendships and watch your children develop new skills through teamwork while enjoying the fresh air. We are so passionate about what we do, and we believe that there has never been a better time for your child to being their United Education camp journey with us.

We look forward to seeing everyone this summer at Bootham School!
