Boys’ Tennis

Three teams travelled to Pocklington on Saturday afternoon. The U12 team had a 4-2 victory, the U14 team had a 8-1 victory in 9 doubles games, whilst the U18 team had a 5-1 victory to clinch the York tennis league title. The U18 team included Freddie Thornton (aged 12) who beat their number 3 seed in singles and beat their 3 & 4 seeds in doubles alongside Euan Brooke. Bootham’s number one seed Finley Richardson won his singles match and Peter Woodmansey beat their number two seed. Well done to all the boys!

Boys’ Cricket

Bootham had two good games against Ampleforth at U14s and U15s last week. The teams played some good cricket but both suffered defeats.

Girls’ Rounders
Unfortunately the recent rounders matches have been cancelled due to bad weather and the U15 tournament has been moved from the 17th of June to the 24th. Fingers crossed the next week is kind and we get to play U14’s on the 24th and U15’s on the 27th, both against Queen Margaret’s.

Girls’ Tennis
The U15’s welcomed The Mount to Bootham on the 13th June. A well contested fixture, played in good spirits ending in a victory for our visitors.

Our U12/13’s and U14/15’s played against Fulford school on the 19th June, some close fought games and sets, on a very hot afternoon. Both Fulford teams won overall, but a fantastic win for Alice McWalter in her singles match and in her doubles with Bette Gleadhall.

Athletics

Bootham had great success in the semi-finals of the District athletics competition with 38 qualifiers for the finals this week – a school record! The final will take place this Tuesday 25th. We wish all the athletes well in the finals and will let you know the results.

Aquathlon

The first Bootham School Aquathlon will take place on Parents Day on Saturday. It will start approx 10.15am and involve a 200 metre swim, (transition outside) followed by a 1000m run. Any student at the Senior school is eligible to participate in what should be a fun event.
