The MFL Department were proud to have attended a French and German Day in London on the 14th of March. The day was spent at the German Goethe Institute in the morning and at the Institut Français in the afternoon.
The Lower Schoolroom students involved attended a workshop on Graffiti and learnt about the history of graffiti and the culture of graffiti in Berlin. They got involved in speaking a lot of German, playing games and then designed their own graffiti cards in German. We brought back some lovely work from the pupils.
We then moved on to the French institute where we learnt about comic strips and famous French comic characters, learnt some French vocabulary on comics and completed some activities in French.
The day ended with the projection of two short movies in German and French at the French Institute’s cinema.
The day was full of adventures, learning and discovery and we all hope we can attend a similar day at the Institutes in the future.
Bootham School MFL staff and pupils were the first to attend this Franco German Day along with another school from Bedford.
