Lower and Middle Schoolroom German Students celebrate St Nikolaus
As part of their studies about German Speaking countries, students of German have celebrated St Nikolaus this week. Every 6th December German, Austrian and Swiss children place shoes out for St Nikolaus. If they have been good all year they receive nuts, fruit and chocolate; if not, they are handed over to the Krampus who gets very cross with them. Lower and Middle Schoolroom re-enacted this in lessons with some very scary Krampus reactions for the students who had been naughty!
Upper Schoolroom students visit the Christkindelmarkt.
Meanwhile Upper Schoolroom German students visited the Christkindelmarkt in Leeds. Here they were able to enjoy some authentic German Lebkuchen, Bratwurst and Bretzeln while strolling round the craft stalls.
