There have been some very good football matches this week but unfortunately Bootham teams have narrowly missed out on continuing good cup runs. In the English Schools National competition the 1st XI played superbly against a very good Malton team with academy players in the side. The team went 2-0 up but could not hang on in the last five minutes as the game finished 2-2. The game went to penalties with Malton eventually winning 8-7. Disappointing but a great game. The U16 team also went out of the English Schools competition in the 3rd round when they lost to Barlby 3-1. Harry Clough scored Bootham’s goal. The U13 were knocked out of the County cup by Malton on Tuesday. Two early goals from Malton secured the win despite a good fight back from the boys. The game finished 2-1.

The U15 team lost to Tadcaster on Wednesday evening. Last years district champions proved too good for a Bootham team lacking a few players.

A combined U16 and U18 team played against The Mount on Monday over at Energise – a really good game, played by two well matched teams ended in a 1-0 loss for our team.
On Wednesday the U15 team visited St Peter’s – a wet, cold evening not great weather for hockey! Our girls played fantastically against tough opposition, a narrow loss but a great game.
