The 1st XI played against Highgate School (London) on Wednesday afternoon in the 3rd round of the ISFA U18 cup. The game was heading for a goal-less first half before Highgate scored with three minutes to go. Both teams created enough chances to win the game in the second half, however Highgate got the important second goal before Joel Gallagher-Coates scored with four minutes remaining to force a tense end to the game. It was not to be however, congratulations to the team for an excellent cup run and competing superbly against much larger schools.

The U13 team travelled to Selby High School on Tuesday and competed well in a 4-0 defeat. The U12 team were defeated at home to Huntington in the York and District league on Thursday evening.

Five teams from Bootham took part in this year’s ESSA National Relay Championships at Huddersfield Leisure Centre on Friday night. Fantastic swimming by all our students culminating in 2 silver medals for our Intermediate Boys team and 2 sliver medals for our Senior Boys team.

On Saturday morning the U14 netball team competed in the York round of the National Schools Netball Competition – our girls had a very tough draw, playing against Joseph Rowntree, The Mount, Manor A and St Peter’s. Our team competed really well but didn’t manage to make it through to the semi-finals this time.
