The 1st XI had a really good game against a St Peter’s XI on Wednesday afternoon. Bootham batted first and scored 140-9 in their twenty overs. Angus Bindloss hit a fantastic 65. St Peter’s did well to stay in the game and got within 3 runs of the total but Bootham eventually managed the victory with some good bowling from Ben Barnett, Angus Bindloss, Daniel Raubitschek and Ben Exall.

The U14 team played against St Peter’s ‘B’ team on Wednesday evening and also managed a victory. The team managed to win by 10 run. On Monday the team however lost against Manor. Montgomery Grenyer batted really well in the defeat.

The U12 team played against St Olave’s on Thursday evening. The team gained some vital experience in a new format which enabled everyone to bat and bowl. St Olave’s eventually won by 35 runs.

Boys’ Tennis

The U15 team had a fantastic victory on Thursday in the return match against St Peter’s. Despite losing 5-1 to the same team last week, they turned things around and played superbly both individually and collectively to win. Finlay Richardson and George Bristow won their singles games, whilst Finlay and Peter Woodmansey beat their number 1 & 2 seed at doubles. At 3-3 in sets the game went into a sudden death 10 point tie break with Finlay teaming up with George to run out 11-9 winners. A fantastic tennis match and well done to the boys.

Girls’ Tennis

The U15 team played away at Queen Margaret’s on Thursday – some lovely tennis played by both teams , but our opposition proved too strong on the day.

On Monday 14th May, the U13 team played in the York and District Tournament at Joseph Rowntree school. They played five matches in their section, winning four and drawing one, they then moved onto the semi finals and beat All Saint’s A team. They came up against a very strong A team from Joseph Rowntree and narrowly lost to them in the final. A fantastic effort by the whole team, well done and congratulations to all who played.

The Senior team played away on Wednesday afternoon against Queen Margaret’s – a brilliant game, played in great spirit, ending in a 11 and half to 9 loss for our girls. Thank you to the College One girls for stepping up to play with three College Two players.

Congratulations to Finlay Coad and Tom Hayes in Middle Schoolroom who have both been selected to participate in the 2018 basketball regional development programme after competing for North Yorkshire. 14 players were selected out of 48. Well done boys!

10 Bootham students have been invited to represent York at the North Yorkshire Schools Athletics Championships on the 9th June at York University.
