U15 Football team playing in their 2-0 win against Leeds Grammar

The 1st XI unfortunately lost against St John Fisher School, Harrogate on Wednesday afternoon in the quarter final of the County Cup competition. The team’s resources were massively depleted with five members of the starting XI ill or injured for the game.

Two U13 teams were also defeated on Wednesday when Aysgarth School visited Bootham.

On Saturday four teams (12s,13s,14s,15s) travelled to Leeds Grammar School. Again, Bootham teams were hit with illness and injury however the U15 team did manage a very good 2-0 win against the opposition. Elliot Chan and Euan Brooke scored Bootham’s goals.

On Tuesday our U14 and U15 teams played against Joseph Rowntree school – the U14’s were over powered by a very strong opposition, they lost. The U15’s match was a different entity though, our girls outplayed their opposition and won 18-7.

All Saints brought their U18 team to play at Bootham on Wednesday afternoon, a great game ending in a convincing 21-6 victory for our girls. Also, on Wednesday we played our U14 A and B teams against Huntington school. A narrow loss for our A team 14-12 but a brilliant 10-4 victory for the B team.

The U13 team had the pleasure of playing in a Festival of Netball across the road at St Olave’s – they played some lovely, skillful netball throughout their 5 matches, ending in the 3rd/4th playoff against a team from Pocklington which they won – so a very creditable 3rd place.

On Saturday we welcomed 4 teams from Queen Mary’s school – the U16 match was abandoned due to an injury to one of our players, the U12, 13 and 14 teams battled hard, but with key players missing, sadly we were not victorious in those matches.

The U13 & U14 team had two very competitive semi-finals this week and both managed to come out victorious. The U13 played against Fulford on Friday evening and managed a comfortable 32-16 victory. The U14 team played against a good All Saints team on Wednesday and despite being behind in the first quarter, changed things around tactically to eventually win 57-29.

The U13 team will now play All Saints in the final at Bootham on Wednesday and the U14 team will face Tadcaster at Bootham on Thursday.

The U12 team played their final game in the Junior NBA competition on Thursday and narrowly lost to Fulford. The team have really benefited and enjoyed being involved in the competition and have made good progress.

Well done to all who played last week – lots more fixtures ahead!
