The 1st XI played in the second round of the English Schools National Competition on Thursday. They were drawn against St Aidan’s School, Harrogate. In torrential conditions the team played some superb football but were unable to finish the chances created. St Aidan’s came away 1-0 winners to progress to the next round.
The U14 football team were also knocked out of the County cup on Monday. A depleted team travelled to Whitby to play against Caedmon College and had a disappointing 6-0 defeat.
The Junior House football competition took place on Saturday afternoon. Over 30 Lower and Middle Schoolroom boys and girls took part in a really competitive and fun event. Swarthmore won the competition winning all three games, followed by Brigflatts, Firbank and then Pendle.
The U14 team’s season started with a comfortable 56-14 victory against Ackworth. The whole team got a good run out in the victory with Tom Hayes scoring 26 individual points.
The College House competition was a very competitive event with some close games. The results were:

These results saw Brigflatts win over all with Firbank second, Pendle third and Swarthmore fourth.
25 Bootham students attended the District cross country competition at Askham Bryan College on Tuesday afternoon. Everyone tried really hard and there were some good performances.
On Wednesday the U15’s took part in the area tournament – unfortunately, after biblical amounts of rain and the pitch flooding, it had to be abandoned after just 4 matches. A big thank you to Victoria for organising the tournament. On Thursday the U13 team played in a triangular fixture against Manor and Fulford – our team played some skillful hockey in the first game against Manor and won 1-0, Fulford proved too strong in the second game and they won 2-0.
