Bootham is a very different kind of school: relatively small, independent, day and boarding, nestling in the historic centre of York.
Whilst the school is nearly 200 years old, it never dwells on its colourful past, it doesn’t rest on its laurels, nor does it talk easily about its many successes and accolades. That may be one of the first challenges for our new Marketing/Business Development Manager!
Our distinctive, pervading, pastoral Quaker ethos is shot through all that we do, even though very few of our staff and students knew anything about Quakerism when they were first attracted to Bootham. They soon learn to value what it offers.
We value a liberal individuality and demand much more of our students than the high academic results they achieve, seeking to educate them ‘to envisage a better world, and to acquire the skills and confidence to deliver change’. We challenge all members of our community to model that ‘better world’ in the way that we work together.
We are seeking a Marketing/Business Development Manager to lead with determination, imagination and care the next stage of the school’s growth. You will be a target-driven and entrepreneurial marketing professional who quickly ‘gets’ what Bootham is about and has the ability to translate that into a strategic vision and suitably ambitious objectives for marketing the school in support of its distinctive aims and objectives. This will require outstanding communication, presentation, relationship-building and networking skills. Whilst experience of working in marketing in the independent schools sector -including boarding- is not essential, a knowledge of independent schools and the local market would be an advantage.
Closing date: 10am on Monday 17 October 2016 Interviews: Friday 4 November 2016
