Over half term our Seniors and Upper Schoolroom Germanists went to Munich. During a packed five days we enjoyed visits to the Olympic Park, the zoo, BMW Welt and the prestigious Deutsches Museum. Here students were able to try a host of hands-on experiments covering a range of science topics, as well as astronomy. From the top of the Olympic Tower we were able to look over the BMW Museum, we then enjoyed time in the museum and BMW World. A highlight of this trip was also a guided tour of the Allianz Arena, home of the football club Bayern Munich.
We have a long standing connection with a school in Munich and once again our students were able to complete a scavenger hunt through the centre of the city with our host pupils. Our students made good use of their language skills with the German students and then locally in the shops and market. On our final day we visited the Carl-Orff Gymnasium to spend the morning with our hosts. Bootham students were able to spend time in classes ranging from speed dating in English lessons to A level Geography and Business! A real test of our students’ German! It was with huge pride that we took our students abroad as they behaved impeccably and threw themselves wholeheartedly into every activity they were given – including completing their daily diaries in German!
