Teaching and Learning

Our children are encouraged to be adventurous and challenging in their search for truth, to engage in the process of learning, to enjoy learning for its own sake and to continue learning after they leave school.

Our teachers help them to become independent learners. We offer a curriculum which stimulates different styles of learning, affording children a range of experiences through which they can reach their potential.

Meeting Your Child’s Needs

We aim to meet the needs of all our children and have rigorous procedures to identify and meet the needs of children with special educational requirements.

Parents will be consulted whenever there are any concerns about their children’s academic or personal progress. In the same way, if parents have any worries about the development of their child, please discuss your concerns with us – sometimes a little intervention at an early stage can prevent problems from escalating.

Support is given to the children by the Special Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO), Teaching Staff, and Learning Support Assistants.

Catering for the more able child

The school has developed a system to identify and nurture the more able child. Children who are very able will have a variety of interesting provision created for them. This could include extension work in relevant subjects, working on projects or activities which will further develop their skills. There is a bank of resources in school to help teachers plan individual programmes of work to support and develop the abilities of more able children.

Subjects

Our aim is to provide a creative, exciting and rich environment in which children are stimulated and motivated to learn through our adventurous and liberating curriculum.
