After School Activities offers a host of pursuits such as judo, kayaking, knitting, dance, chess or art.
They are greatly enjoyed by the children. "The difficulty is not encouraging them to participate but getting them to go home afterwards!" says one of the teachers.
This wrap-around care is greatly beneficial to working families and is designed to be flexible, to meet the needs of all parents. Importantly, clubs take place in the school so there is a seamless transition of care. To see an example of what choices are on offer, click here.
Comments below are from the Independent Schools Inspectorate report on Bootham School, January 2014
"Throughout the school there is an extensive range of extra-curricular activities that successfully promote pupils' intellectual, aesthetic and physical development. In the senior school, these range from GCSE astronomy, to judo, to games of strategy, and in the junior school from Mandarin to photography to "dance yourselves dizzy". A well-developed programme of visits to places of educational and cultural interest, including for children in the EYFS, greatly enhances pupils' all-round learning and development."
