Greek Gods and Goddesses!

Year 4 enjoyed being ancient Greek Gods and Goddesses for a day. During their workshop at York Museum, they had the opportunity to handle genuine ancient Greek artefacts and engaged in many activities from long jump to drama.

Year 2 enjoyed a visit from York Theatre Royal workshop. As their topic for this term is Storytelling they travelled to different imaginary lands. The even landed on a desert island!! In the afternoon they visited the theatre itself and got a look behind the scenes.

Outdoor Classroom Day

At Bootham Junior School, we love learning outdoors. We loved being a part of the worldwide Outdoor Classroom Day on 17th May.
Outdoor Classroom Day is a global campaign to celebrate and inspire outdoor learning and play. Thousands of schools around the world took lessons outdoors and prioritise playtime. In 2017, over 2.3 million children worldwide took part, more than 580,000 of those were in the UK and Ireland.  You can see from the photos that Year 5 enjoyed reading and exploring the text of The Wind in the Willows, Year 2 visited York to look at the physical and human geography of the area and also doing their sums outside!   #OutdoorClassroomDay
