Working 25 hours a week during term time, plus 4 additional weeks

£25,575 to £26,972 full time equivalent

We are seeking, for an immediate start, a Head of Careers and UCAS to provide -and develop further- a comprehensive and effective careers and university entry programme appropriate to the needs and aspirations of Bootham School students. You will devise programmes enabling our young people to develop the knowledge and skills to make informed decisions about their education, training and employment options. You will help to provide them with opportunities and experiences to develop essential employability and life skills so that each can become the best person they can be, and achieve the best of which they are capable, beyond their school years.

You must be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the current national CEIAG policy framework; have the skills to oversee, develop and ensure the efficient running of the university applications system; be able to provide timely, expert, relevant, helpful and challenging careers advice and develop and run a vibrant programme of events for students and their parents to inform and inspire, especially at moments of significant choice.

You will work an average of 25 hours per week during term time, plus four weeks in school holidays; two of these weeks will be around public exam results in August.

The postholder will be expected to manage their hours to take account of particular ‘pinch-points’ in the school year, most importantly during the Autumn Term UCAS application period and the second half of the Summer Term for UCAS preparation.

Closing date:  noon Thursday 19th September 2019

Interviews will be held on Wednesday 9th October
