On Thursday 28th March the York and District branch of the Geographical Association hosted their annual conference with over 120 students from 10 schools across North Yorkshire. After a morning immersed in exam technique delivered by Louise Butcher the students were treated to an afternoon centred on Carbon. Guest speakers were Professor Ally Lewis an Atmospheric Chemist from the University of York, Ollie Mackerill from the NGO Yorkshire Peat Partnership and Carl Clayton from the Drax power station BECCS (Bioenergy Carbon Capture and Storage) team.
In June we will be hosting Arctic adventurer Alex Hibbert and would love to see our Bootham Lower Senior Geographers in attendance as well as our usual College students. Everyone is welcome including parents. We hope to see you there.
