Kurt Strauss spoke to the whole school in Morning Meeting

Kurt Strauss was born into a Jewish family in Germany in 1930 and at aged eight, went to live in Prague to escape persecution. In 1939 Kurt came to England on one of the Kindertransport trains, his mother posing as a carer and Kurt as one of the Kinder. After spending some time in a refugee hostel in London, Kurt eventually found himself at the Quaker School РSidcot. Having been a refugee himself, Kurt is passionate about supporting refugees in his local community in York and is actively involved in RAY (Refugee Action York). During his talk, he read a powerful poem by Brian Bilston about refugees. See the link here https://brianbilston.com/2016/03/23/refugees/
