Bootham is a thriving day and boarding school which has remained at the forefront of independent education in the UK for almost 200 Years.
The School is housed in some of York’s finest Georgian buildings. The main site is made up of ten listed Georgian buildings surrounded by nine acres of green fields and gardens. It offers excellent conference facilities in the heart of historic York, plus further facilities in nearby Clifton.
The school offers facilities for both residential and non-residential events. Previous groups have included the BBC Youth Parliament, Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, Women’s’ Royal Voluntary Service, Royal Geographical Society and many of the visiting choirs who come each summer to sing in York Minster, a mere 300 metres away.
Car parking may be available for up to 100 cars.
A short walk away is Bootham Junior School, located in Rawcliffe Lane, Clifton. This purpose built school, with 15 acres of sports pitches plus car parking, also provides excellent facilities as a multi-purpose venue.

Seats 450 and is equipped with PA system with digital mixing, multiple projectors, full theatre stage with lighting, additional flexible staging and concert grand piano. The Junior School hall offers a smaller space and more intimate surroundings.
The Bootham School Arts Centre
This impressive facility can be hired for special events and offers flexible space, suitable for a wide variety of groups.
This facility contains a large rehearsal room with grand piano and seating for 40, plus a classroom and various small practice rooms.
The Recital Room
Once a Georgian ballroom, our famous Recital Room provides a further taste of elegance in a separate area of the estate.
Our dining hall can comfortably accommodate more than 200 diners
Seating up to 30 with whiteboards, projectors and video facilities.
Georgian Reception Suite
Two elegantly furnished Georgian reception rooms leading off from a wide hall and majestic staircase. This is a very attractive self-contained function area for meetings or entertaining and gives access directly on to the main street.
