Arts Centre Foyer

We invite you to come and have a look at the new display in the Arts Foyer.  A stunning selection of photographs of children helped by The Dragonfly Schools Foundation.  Bootham School has worked with very closely with the charity, and supported them over the past couple of years.

The Dragonfly Schools Foundation

The foundation is a charity, working in Rajasthan, Northern India.  First of all it provides free education and vocational training for those children who do not receive any form of education due to poverty, neglect and social exclusion.  Furthermore the charity supports children and young adults who live hard, vulnerable lives in the streets and railway stations.  As well as those carrying out difficult or dangerous work for very little reward. In addition others, living with their families in makeshift tents, are frequently malnourished and suffer numerous untreated health conditions. So many are caught in a cycle of poverty and neglect, petty crime and abuse.

Moving forward…

The Dragonfly Schools Foundation have just started to offer their first apprenticeships.  And have taken their first ‘portable’ schools into local communities in and around the city of Ajmer in central Rajasthan.
