On Wednesday 16th May Bootham School will be hosting a non-uniform day where students are invited to ‘Wear Blue’ in an effort to raise money for, and raise awareness of, the charity Dig Deep.
Dig Deep Charity
Old Scholar, Toby Putnam (who left Bootham in 2012), brought this charity to our attention earlier this term during an inspiring Meeting. He will be climbing Mount Kenya in July to raise money and awareness for the charity. Dig Deep provides clean water to disadvantaged communities in Kenya and other parts of Eastern Africa. Their water projects prevent children dying of preventable diseases, students having their education disrupted and women wasting hours every day collecting unsafe water. Dig Deep aim to break the cycle of poverty by building taps and toilets. Also by educating communities to maintain this infrastructure indefinitely. They also provide vital hygiene training to community teachers and health workers, to ensure that communities understand how to prevent the spread of disease at a local level.
Non Uniform Day
As well as a non uniform day we will also be organising a bake sale on the day. If you would like to donate any baked good please drop them at reception first thing Wednesday morning. Please ensure all baking in nut free as Bootham School is a nut free School.
On Wednesday 16th May bring in £1 and wear blue to support this worthwhile cause.
