Climate Strike News

Bootham School was very well represented at the Climate Strike event on Friday 20th September in central York. Gathering with hundreds of other strikers from across York educational institutions and businesses we listened to impassioned speeches, poems and songs from students, M.P.s and representatives from environmental action groups like Extinction Rebellion.

In the bright autumn sunshine we then marched through Parliament Street and back up Coney Street.

In all, over 100 students chose to make a stand and show their displeasure at the lack of real governmental action or interest in the growing and urgent climate crisis. This small act of civil disobedience hopefully contributes to the global action of the day; thank you to all those who took part for ‘letting their lives speak’ in a truly Quakerly fashion.
