Bikes in Need is a small charity that takes old and broken bikes and repairs them before sending them off to people and institutions who need them, such as youth hostels and refugees who have no way to travel around York. Run by Emma Frost and her colleagues, Martyn noticed the charity and decided to help out. Setting up an activity where students could learn how to repair bikes while helping Emma simultaneously.
So far, we have fixed six bikes out of the original nine provided to us by Emma. And as we run out of bikes to repair, we are beginning a search for new ones. In particular, we are looking for bikes for teenagers since this is the age group most in need of support.
And this is where you come in: if you have a bike you think could be suitable and are willing to donate, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with a picture and description of the bike.
Thank you for your consideration,
The Bikes in Need Team
