Although it was after the end of the Easter term, the Sleep Out organised by SASH ( Safe and Secure Housing) using Bootham as a base, managed to raise a whopping £23,281.84 for the homeless in York.  About a hundred and six members of the public were sponsored to sleep rough for a night.  It was bitter weather but the creative shelters made by many seemed to keep out the worst of the cold.  Most people had left by 7am leaving a mountain of cardboard for the city council to take away.

Sarah Allen would particularly like to thank Marji Cryans, Nick Lewis, Mike Room, Chris Jeffery, Martyn Beer, Neil Fenwick, Rob Webster, Rich Woods, Scott Jones, Gavin Blackstone and Craig Pierotti for their support in making this event happen.

Some creative shelter making.
