Bootham Senior School is looking for an experienced cleaner to join the afternoon team. You must be reliable, friendly, physically fit and able to clean to a high standard. Previous cleaning experience is essential. Salary £9.00 per hour. Uniform provided.

 Job Title:                                   Afternoon Cleaner

 Reports to:                                 Cleaning Team Leader                                

Staff Supervised:                       None       

Key Contacts and Relationships:

Cleaning Team Leader, other members of the cleaning team and all staff and students at the School.

 Overall Purpose:

To be an effective member of the cleaning team, primarily to clean to the highest standards, as directed by the Cleaning Team Leader.  Our cleaning team work when our students are in school, so are expected to behave appropriately at all times and uphold the values and expectations of the school.

 Key tasks:

  • Hoovering
  • Sweeping
  • Washing floors
  • Cleaning locker rooms/study areas toilets and various other rooms
  • Dusting
  • Use of cleaning machinery for which training will be given

This list is not restrictive or definitive in any way and should be regarded as a guideline to the duties required, and may be amended in the light of changing circumstances following consultation with the post holder.

Key Performance Measures:

  •  Cleanliness of the designated area/s.
  • Relationships with team colleagues.
  • Action taken / not taken when problems arise.

Skills and Competences required in the role:

 Conscientious, flexible and easy going personality with the ability to work calmly under pressure in a busy environment.

The ability to switch between tasks with ease and a good sense of humour.

Hours of work:

3.30pm to 6.30pm Monday to Thursday, 3.15pm to 6.30pm Fridays, during term time only.

Rate of pay: £9.00 per hour
