The library catalogue can easily be viewed when you are in school at www.boothamstudent.co.uk – just click on the Access The Library button. If you need any help, please ask the Librarian.

All users may borrow from the John Bright Library. Books are loaned for two weeks, but may be renewed if no other user needs them. To borrow an item, take it to the librarian who will issue it on the library management system. If the librarian is not present, then fill in the manual issue sheet on the counter.

It is important that you return or renew books promptly so that other users can have access to them. Overdue reminders will be sent to you either by email or via your tutor.

Fiction

The John Bright Library holds c.4000 classic and contemporary fiction books. The books are arranged in alphabetical order by the author’s surname.

There are lists of suggested reading for Schoolrooms, Seniors/ College, and quick reads.

New books are displayed on the library counter for a few weeks before being shelved, so you can check out the new arrivals. Recommendations for new books are always welcome.

Non-Fiction

The information (non-fiction) books are arranged in numerical order by the Dewey Decimal Classification system. The library catalogue can tell you whether the library has a particular book, what the library has by a particular author or on a particular subject, where to find a book (by its Dewey number), and whether a book is out on loan. When you use the catalogue, make sure that you write down the classification number so that you can find your book easily. If in doubt, please ask the librarian.
