In the first half of the programme, the students will perform a selection of monologues - in the second half they will perform Polly Teale's After Mrs Rochester (a play that explores the life of the writer Jean Rhys). In addition to the two acting candidates, two students are being entered as designers - and they will be introducing their design work both for the monologues and the play. RENTAL PROPERTY SOUGHT
The family of a new student (joining us in September) are looking to rent a property from this summer – at least 2 bedrooms and preferably within walking distance of the school. They have two very well behaved dogs. Does anyone know of a property? If you can help, please contact Jenny Daly in the Admissions Office and she will put you in touch with the family – email: jenny.daly@boothamschool.com

ICELAND 2012
After the near miss last time we visited Iceland in 2010 were glad that no eruptions interfered with the trip over Easter. Our group of 23 students from Upper and Lower Seniors enjoyed wall to wall sunshine throughout their stay and made the most of the natural wonders Iceland has to offer. Pictured above is the group in between two glaciers in the Skaftafell National Park.
ACTIVITIES
Activities have begun. Please could the home permission emails or letters be sent to Sarah Allen (allens@boothamschool.com) as soon as possible.
QUAKERS IN EDUCATION – A DIALOGUE
Your attention is drawn to a one day conference in Birmingham on 28th June on Quaker involvement in education. Jonathan has helped to organise this in partnership with the other Quaker independent schools in the UK. The interactive conference will seek to answer the following questions: What is the particular contribution that Quaker values make to education? How can we support Friends working in maintained schools? How can our values more effectively challenge current ways of thinking about education? The conference is aimed at teachers from all sectors, school governors, academics and anyone else interested in education. Full details and application form are available on this link.

FURNITURE DESIGNED BY YEAR 4
For their DT project, the children in Year 4 have been designing and making furniture for “Lizzy” and “Hugo”. Each child has had the opportunity to explain which materials they used and how they made the piece of furniture.
