Job Vacancies

Information for all Posts

Bootham School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

All appointments are subject to a satisfactory DBS Enhanced Disclosure (until recently called a CRB Enhanced Disclosure).

We currently have the following vacancies:

Art Technician - Temporary Contract: SUPP 20/14

Part time, term-time only,  for start as soon as possible

£17,022 to £18,432 pro rata

An Art Technician is required to facilitate the use of the space, equipment and resources in the Art Department by both the teachers and students. This encompasses elements of maintenance, display, stock control and resource management

The post is ideally suited to a 'Visual Arts' graduate with an interest in exploring a career within education or looking for a way to support their creative practice; coupled with the ability to take initiative and  work independently within a given brief using excellent interpersonal skills.

Formal qualifications are not essential and we would be interested to hear from any applicants with the necessary energy and enthusiasm to work in Bootham School’s dynamic and thriving Art Department.

‘RESIDENT GRADUATE’ OPPORTUNITY – from January 2015 to July 2015:  SUPP 21/14

Our well-established Resident Graduate programme has a vacancy from January 2015 for one more graduate to join the team until July 2015. You might have completed your studies in 2014, or graduated in the last 2 or 3 years. Res Grads play a leading role in the school’s leisure activities scheme and assist with duties in boarding houses during the academic year. We offer full board during school terms and a small remuneration.

All applications are welcome, but we would be particularly interested in applications from male graduates who can live and work in the boys’ boarding houses.

For those seeking to undertake further studies at University after a first degree this scheme provides an excellent opportunity to get involved in the extra-curricular life of a distinguished school while studying. While it would provide useful experience for those planning to undertake PGCEs, we have found it to be difficult for such students to combine the responsibilities of a Resident Graduate with the time commitment of teaching practice.

The programme is excellent for those unsure of the way ahead and offers purposeful and busy activity with youngsters. An ideal chance to do something valuable and enjoyable while having time to think!
