The Philosophy:
Is that of the ethos underpinning the original Nuffield Physics. Physics
should be taught through a series of experimental experiences, aiming
for an understanding through an enjoyment of practical experiences.
The Team:
Paul Burton, Russell Newlands, Peter Rankin and Cathy Rowell and technician
Pauline Beckwith provide the full compliment to this thriving, exciting
and energetic department.
The Space:
Physics - 1 seats 22 and was refurbished in August 1990.
Physics - 2 seats 24.
Darkroom was refurbished in August 1990, used for examination paper storage.
Preparation room
Some lessons are taught out of the department:
S1 - general purpose science/psychology, built and
fitted August 1998.
