There are three reunion groups planned this year so have a look and see if any of them apply to you. If not come along anyway - there's always a very warm welcome. The Christmas Stuffing Party
The Bootham Stuffing Party in December is a great occasion for recent leavers to meet up. The last 4 years’ College leavers (and those who left earlier from the relevant year groups) are invited to help ‘stuff the magazines into envelopes’ for the annual Old Scholar mailing and then have a bit of a party afterwards! Please look out for your invitation in December and let us know if you’d like to come.

Reunion Groups 2012
We have have 3 reunion groups planned for 2012 they are: 1992 leavers being organised by Sally Culpan, 1965-69 leavers by Andrew Robinson, and 1972 leavers, by Andy Chapman.
1964 group
Back Row L to R:Chris Jones, Rory Spence, Tim Norman, John Hetherton, Chris Cooper, John Rogers, John Dagg, Michael Hegginbotham, John Bannister
Front Row: Andrew Robinson, John Gunn, James Reid, Eric Smith, David Champion, Peter Cussins, Michael Stanley, John Impey, John Waller
Following a successful re-union in 2009 when around 25 Old Scholars from 1967 and also the two years around it (especially 1968), returned, many with wives and partners, Andrew has decided to co-ordinate another gathering in 2012. Although there will be a focus on the 1967 leavers year, leavers from 1965 through to 1969 are all invited – indeed any leavers from the 1960s will be extremely welcome. Andrew will be in touch shortly using names on the Bootham database, if for some reason you don't hear anything please contact Andrew direct. One of the hopes is that some of the ‘lost’ Old Scholars can be ‘found’. The school only has contact details for about 50% of all leavers from the 1960s so it would be great to track down some more. We are also working with The Mount in the hope that their OS from the 1960s will organise a re-union too - which could make for an extremely interesting dinner in May!

1972 Leavers
Andy Chapman (pictured above - then and now) writes......perhaps eccentrically, I’ve been to all but one Old Scholars’ weekend since 1972 to take part in the Old Scholars’ swimming. We have won a lot of these matches over the years despite, injuries, colds, flu, bad backs, ageing etc; we’re a tough lot to beat!
Recently, it occurred to me that these regular attendances have put me in a unique position of responsibility; to arrange a reunion for my classmates to see each other again. In 2012 it will be 40 years since we left. In all that time, I’ve seen about five former classmates. What a pity as I really enjoyed meeting up and comparing notes on those occasions. We’re all probably approaching retirement and another 10 years from now seems too long to wait. So I’ve decided to do it! These are the people I’m hoping to bring together at 2012 Old Scholars’ weekend (11-13 May) I apologise if I’ve missed anyone but it’s a well researched list:
Ian J Barker, Christopher H Barrett, *Michael G H Bell, Robert J V Bertram, *Simon R E Berwin, Simon N Bibby, Philip T Cadbury, *G Raphael Camrass, *Andrew K Chapman (me), Ian Dickinson, P Nicholas Dowrick, Benjamin S Crabb, Ian D F Edmonds, Nicholas Farrar, John W Gatenby, *Ian O Goulty, Richard Green, David J A Gripper, Lawrence C T George, Julian D Hadfield, Peter Hawkins, *Jonathan B Hepworth, Nevil H Houghton, Timothy P S Hughes, Andrew Hull, William T P Jackson, Abdul M I Janmohammed, *Anthony A Jeffree, *Stephen Kirkby, *Richard A Laidler, *Nicholas J Langstaff, *Timothy J Leng, Hilary S Lishman, Martin Lovell, *Clive R S Lumb, Daniel Lytton, Ronald MacKinnon, *Steven V Maufe, William S Metford-Sewell, *Michael O'Donahue, *Peter Openshaw, *Shephen B Pattison, Colin R M Pontefract, Bernard Prax, James M Russell, Christopher H Simms, Peter M Smith, P Adrian J Smyly, W Roger Q Tucket, Nigel C Turner, Anthony A Unwin, David F Waller, David P Waind, *Christopher D Wilkinson, *Peter G I Willey, *Andrew J Yuill.
Names preceded by an *asterisk, I have an email address for, hopefully current.
To set things going, could I please ask for all named to drop me a quick email to akchapman@aol.com so that I have a means of letting you know arrangements as they evolve. Please include email or other contact details of anyone else on the list. By all means ring me on 01249 660038, if you have no email or simply wish to make contact. I have also set up a Facebook page with some end of term pictures (take a deep breath!) on http://www.facebook.com/pages/Bootham-School-1965-72/121777264590872?sk=wall (hope you are good at accurate typing!).
It has been an uplifting experience sorting out the list of names and I am looking forward to seeing the faces of them again in 2012. Hope you are too!
