By Rail: York is a major rail centre; London to York is one of Britain's
fastest rail routes. Fastest journey times:
London, King's Cross (1hr 46m); Edinburgh (2hr 24m); Manchester (1hr 29m);
Newcastle (52m); and Birmingham
(2hr 8m).
People travelling to Bootham by rail will arrive at the main York station.
From the station it will take approximately 10 minutes to walk or 10 minutes
by taxi.
By car:
York is connected to the national motorway network via the A64 and A1. Major
cities are within easy travelling distance: London (3hr 30m), Edinburgh
(3hr 30m), Birmingham (2hr 30m), Manchester (1hr 30m), Leeds (40m).
Approach Bootham from the north on the A19 via the outer ring road following
signs for the City Centre. Turn left on to the inner ring road (Gillygate)
and take the first road on the left (Portland Street). This leads into the
main school grounds and car park.
