The School has four boarding houses, each of which
provides homely and comfortable accommodation in elegant Georgian buildings.
Your child's house will depend on his or her age Boarding is all about fun and companionship. Routines such as bedtimes and leave are all worked out on sensible lines with normal family disciplines applied. The girls are all together in the largest house, Rowntree, which in fact covers three Georgian houses with the sixth form girls in their own town house style flats. The boys board in three other similar Georgian houses: Penn for the youngest 11-13 years; Fox for 14 and 15 year olds and Evelyn for the sixth form. Click on the house name on the left for more information. Weekend Activities On Saturdays there is a normal school timetable in the morning and often games fixtures in the afternoon. Those not involved in fixtures may go into York (with permission from house staff) and then in the evenings there are activities available such as swimming, tennis in the Sports Hall or a film screened in the Lecture Theatre. Sunday mornings are relaxed and informal with a short
Quaker Meeting at 10.00. After Sunday lunch there is a full programme
of organised events which is published in the termly calendar. Throughout the weekend boarders make good use of the
School's facilities. There are always plenty of staff around, both in
the boarding houses and in the School. |
