How
to contact us… If your child is being cared for in our After
School Care, they can be contacted from 3.00 p.m. until 6.00 p.m.
by telephoning 01904
655021 when the recorded message will give instructions as to how to
get in direct contact with our team of supervisors.
A direct dial line is available between 3.00 p.m. and 6.00 p.m. Monday to Friday
– this number is 01904 655394.
When it is necessary for someone other than a child’s parent, guardian or carer
to collect them from After School Care, please will you let a member of our After
School Care staff know, in writing so that staff are enable to keep children
safe.On occasions it may be possible that access via the main school entrance
will be restricted. At these times, access to the Nursery Classroom, where
our After School Care takes place, can be made via the small playground at the
front of the school. The After School Care comes to an end at 6.00 p.m. each
day, and we ask that parents ensure their child is collected by this time, whenever
they choose to avail themselves of this additional care offered by the School. If
you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact us, when
we will be only too happy to help.
Yours sincerely

BEFORE
AND AFTER SCHOOL
CARE NEWS
At
Bootham Junior School, we offer Before and After School Care for all
pupils. Before School Care is offered for children from 8.00
a.m. onwards. After School Care is offered from 3.00 p.m. until
6.00 p.m. on each school day, except the last day of the term.
Both
can be used on a regular or ad-hoc basis, should parents find themselves
unexpectedly unable to collect their child at the usual end-of-school
time. Shelly Roper and Linda Salkeld are responsible for the supervision
of children during our Before School Care sessions and as Shelley Roper
also acts as a Learning Support Assistant within school, the children
know her well.In our After School Care facility, there are three supervisors,
Linda Salkeld, Claire Little and Shelley Roper. As you are probably
aware Claire Little is now on maternity leave and Louise Carney, a well
qualified, assistant has been appointed until Claire returns. After School
Care takes place in the Nursery Classroom.
In fine
weather, children are able to take advantage of the fresh air and play
outside in the playground area. A variety of indoor activities
are on offer, including board games, colouring and painting, story-reading
or just relaxing. Older children are able to complete homework
if you so wish. This is organised in a separate class room, supervised
by a teacher. At 4.30 p.m. every day, light refreshments and fruit are
offered to the children, but – of course – this is not a substitute for
tea.
