The Annual Reunion is held at Bootham School during the second weekend in May. All Old Scholars and their families are invited to this fun and informal event.

In 2009, the Old Scholars’ Weekend has been a resounding success, with more visitors and year group reunions than ever before (see photos above, below and right). Perhaps the highlight was the launch of the Natural History 175 year anniversary on Friday evening. Just before the evening’s entertainment we received news officially that Bootham’s is the oldest NH society in the country (Rugby School confirmed what we always suspected). Sixty Old Scholars joined together to share their memories, to enjoy looking at some exhibitions and to listen to Professor Jim Mathew, of the Yorkshire Philosophical Society, speaking about the earliest links between the YPS and Bootham School.

On Saturday there was a huge reunion of the 1960s leavers, as well as a number of other year groups, who enjoyed the head reeves’ speeches before going on tours of the school and getting involved in the sports activities and generally enjoying the sunshine in the breeze before the photograph session. There was a record attendance at the dinner at the Racecourse in the evening -- up to 150 people -- and many old Scholars were clearly not too exhausted to come back for more the next day!
